Mantı, 2022
The piece is inspired by process of the making of the traditional food ‘mantı’ in the household by the women. Many women come together in the houses to make foods like mantı and the gathering becomes a therapeutic environment for the women so I wanted to arrange a special meeting performance for the pride week where I try to get something similar with the participants. The performance starts out by kneading the dough, then I read some news on the newspaper and put the papers into the dough and cover it back again. At the end I invite all the participants to decorate the mantı, we decorate the mantı and end the performance.
